You are encouraged to apply for any position(s) that interest you and for which you meet the listed qualifications.
At TLCS, we take the application process seriously. Every application is reviewed carefully by our hiring team. If your application does not meet the required criteria or qualifications for the role, you may not move forward. Regardless of outcome, you will receive updates via email as your application is reviewed.
We aim to make the process efficient and transparent. Typically, it takes about two weeks from application submission to interview, depending on how quickly the candidate completes the required interview preparation.
For teaching positions, the final interview includes a campus visit where you will plan and deliver a sample lesson in your content area. Afterward, you’ll participate in a reflection and final interview with our team. A campus representative will provide details, including an objective and resources to help you prepare.
For non-instructional roles, you’ll be invited to an in-person interview with the hiring manager.
If you are out-of-state, a hiring manager will first connect with you by phone or Google Meet. From there, we will coordinate the next steps together based on your location and availability.
For teaching positions, application materials are retained for the current school year. However, we welcome reapplicants when the next application cycle opens—typically in April. Non-instructional roles are welcome to apply to any new openings at any time.
No. TLCS is unable to sponsor work visas at this time.
All applications must be submitted online to be considered. However, if you have questions about a specific opening before applying, feel free to reach the team.
While teacher certification is strongly preferred at TLCS, it is not required. We value a passion for learning, a commitment to excellence, and a growth mindset. Candidates without certification are welcome to apply; however, certification is ultimately the responsibility of the employee.
If hired without certification, you may pursue it independently through the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE). Oklahoma offers several pathways to certification, including the traditional route of completing an approved teacher education program or the alternative certification route for individuals holding a bachelor's degree. More information about certification pathways can be found on the OSDE website.

At TLCS, we are committed to excellence — and that requires intentional time invested in our scholars and our craft. We operate on an extended school day model, with staff reporting from 7:30am to 4:00pm.
Once a week, staff participate in a one-hour team meeting from 4:00pm to 5:00pm to collaborate and reflect on instructional practice and campus initiatives.
A typical day at TLCS is action-packed and purpose-driven. Teachers generally have one planning period and three teaching periods daily. In addition to teaching responsibilities, teachers may have lunch duty where they supervise students and build transformative relationships.
Collaboration is a key part of the TLCS experience; during off-periods, teachers often meet with their Dean of Culture or Instructional Coach to strengthen their craft and maximize student achievement. Teachers are encouraged to arrive 30 minutes before their campus start time to prepare for the day — ensuring lesson plans and materials are ready, the classroom is organized, and the day's expectations are set.
Responsibilities may also include arrival or dismissal duty to support student safety. After the school day, teachers might stay to print materials, grade assignments, hold tutorials, attend professional development, meet with parents, or participate in family engagement events such as parent-teacher conferences.
The TLCS school year typically begins in August and ends in May, with the exact end date dependent on the need for inclement weather make-up days.
Staff enjoy structured breaks throughout the year, including one week for Fall Break, one week for Thanksgiving Break, two weeks for Winter Break, and one week for Spring Break. In addition to these longer breaks, TLCS staff members observe all federal and state holidays, offering a well-rounded balance between work and rest.
Class sizes vary based on the needs of each campus, but all campuses maintain compliance with legal teacher-to-student ratio requirements.
